New activities will be available onboard all of TUI River Cruises' ships in 2024

TUI River Cruises is launching an updated line-up of entertainment experiences onboard its ships for its 2024 sailings.

“We don’t want to settle for a traditional river cruise model,” said Christ Logan, managing director of specialist business at TUI River Cruises. “We of course offer incredible itineraries, onboard beautiful ships, with impeccable service, but we also want to be innovative and modern, responding to customers' needs and demands. Many of our customers return to us, and so it's imperative we evolve and offer as much variety as we can.”

The cruise line is set to introduce a team onboard each ship performing ‘bespoke vocal productions’, in what it says is a first for any river cruise operator. The style of the productions will be a cross between an intimate cabaret set and a bigger performance in the evening, with the evenings to be supported by local acts and additional elements such as quizzes.

A cruise experience manager will now work onboard each ship, with sole responsibility for guest relations and the customer experience. TUI is also introducing a new chocolate painting workshop, a digital escape room experience using guests’ devices or VR headsets, and a digital games table for use at any time.

On the top deck, guests will be able to take part in activities hosted by a team member such as virtual reality golf or play giant deck games while unsupervised. Destination enrichment activities such as mobile photography workshops will also be available as part of the daytime programme.

TUI will be delivering the new onboard experience in partnership with its entertainment provider Live Business, which recently won a tender to continue to provide its services for both daytime and nighttime programmes.

“The brief was fresh, and we tasked them with showing us what more we could do that perhaps isn’t typically seen on a river cruise,” said Katy Berzins, head of TUI River Cruises. “We’re excited to roll out what is set to be a real showcase of enriching experiences. Guests can pick and choose what suits them, be as involved as much or as little as they please. The vocal productions onboard river cruise ships aren’t typically seen, and we are aiming for a real intimate professional experience.”
